Mission and Accomplishments

Our Mission

The Conservation Leaders Network is the only nationwide organization that focuses on working with county commissioners to protect America’s natural resources.

Our Accomplishments

  • We generated support for the County Choice Amendment to S. 1608.  This victorious effort prevented counties in 41 states from being forced to forfeit 15% of their federal forest revenues.

  • The National Association of Counties (NACo) finally recognized climate change.

  • We generated county support from 4 states to aid in the passage through committee of the Boulder-White Clouds Wilderness in Idaho at the request of an Idaho county.

  • NACo’s Environment, Energy & Land Use Committee adopted a clean water policy.

  • We secured the defeat of the Association of O&C Counties’ proposal to transfer 2.5 million acres of federal forest land to the State of Oregon.

  • Since 1998, we’ve brought our "Conservation Makes $ense" booth to the National Association of Counties’ annual conferences.

  • We’ve compiled a list of more than 1,400 county commissioners across the country who recognize the value of America’s natural resources to our quality of life.

  • We’ve provided our members with information on more than 100 funding opportunities for counties to protect and restore their natural resources.
  • We’re the go-to group for those wanting to work with counties to protect America’s natural resources.
